DXPEDITION ISLA SAN LORENZO IN PERU IOTA SA

A joint expedition , composed of members of the Radio Club Peruano and the Radio Club Grupo DX Bahía Blanca of Argentina,  will on the air Isla San Lorenzo, located in the Pacific Ocean (12° 05' 23" S - 77° 13' 26" W) between Thursday 20 and Monday 24, February with the special prefix OC0I .
The operation also form part of  "South America Lighthouse Weekend", with activation of the Faro Gran Almirante Grau, ARLHS PER- 006, installed in said island.
Will the team leader Pablo Vázquez OA4AI , accompanied by César Brousek OA4CLU , Tony Vieira OA4DX, David Torres OA4YX, Carlos Almirón LU7DSY, Carlos Soulier LU4ETN , Daniel Lucca LU1HLH , Gustavo Taboada LU7HW and Eduardo Maleh LU7HEO.
They have the support of the Peruvian Navy, who will transport team and cargo in one of their ships from the port of Callao, in addition to providing access to its facilities in the Naval Base in Isla San Lorenzo.
They will be active with two stations simultaneously 24 hours, 80 to 10 meters, including WARC bands in CW , SSB and PSK31.

ISLA SAN LORENZO  SA-052
Isla San Lorenzo is the largest of Perú in the Pacific Ocean. It's about 8 km long and 2.2 km wide. The ancient inhabitants of the Callao region worshipped the island as place of the goddess Shina and adored it for its beauty and richness in fish and other seafood. 

The archaeologist Max Uhle discovered a prehistoric temple and a cemetery with over 3000 graves containing daily utensils, cloth and gold and silver objects.
Other famous scientists like Charles Darwin or Antonio Raimondi visited San Lorenzo also and studied the flora, fauna (numerous seabirds live here in a nearly untouched ecosystem), history and geography of the island. 
San Lorenzo is also known as the "Mysterious Island" for its fascinating legends about pirates and hidden treasures. 
Today Isla San Lorenzo is partly a military base and access is controlled by the Peruvian Navy. 

FARO GRAN ALMIRANTE GRAU (ARLHS PER-006)
Active, with white flash every 10 s. Round tower with lantern and gallery metal, mounted on square base. Painted with yellow and black horizontal bands.
It is the highest lighthouse in South America. Perched high on a cliff over 300 meters above sea level in the northwest corner of the island.
