Assunto: [NAQCC-News] NAQCC WPA Chapter Activates the USS Requin Submarine

After some schedule juggling and other related matters, the NAQCC WPA
Chapter Subpedition from the Requin moored at the Carnegie Science Center in
Pittsburgh, PA has settled on a date and time.

Thanks to Art WA3BKD (from the Requin) for help in setting things up.

Some details are still up in the air and can't be pinned down till the
Subpedition gets underway, but here is what we have at present. Please don't
ask for any more details. There aren't any beyond what we have here right
now.

Date: September 12, 2013

Time: Shortly after 10:00 AM EDT / 1400Z (opening time at the Requin) until
????

Approximate frequencies depending on QRM: 7041 and 14061 - possibly some
10117.

Operators: KC2EGL, K3WWP and possibly K3RLL

Schedule if only one antenna at a time is available (most likely scenario):

1400-1500Z on 7041, 1500-1600Z on 14061, 1600-1700Z whichever of the two
bands was most productive. 1700-????Z TBD.

Schedule if two antennas are available: 1400-1700Z both 7041 and 14061 with
maybe some 10117 thrown in.

Working the Subpedition will count as a QSO with both N3AQC and the Sub call
of NY3EC. Kind of a BOGO deal, and two picture QSLs will be sent to those we
work. If we get an extraordinarily large number of QSOs, we may have to
request a SASE. Otherwise we will absorb the cost ourselves.

So fire up your rigs and exercise your tuning skills. Find us and work us.

We'll be listening for you. PLEASE ZERO BEAT WHEN CALLING. The Requin is a
noisy place with background noise from visitors and demonstrations for those
visitors, plus the QRN level was high the last time we were there. So have
patience if we are having trouble hearing you. Also I believe we will be
required to use speakers instead of headphones for the benefit of visitors
being able to hear the code and learning about it. Then of course we have to
interact with the visitors and answer questions they may have.

QSO style will depend on the amount of activity. If there is a lot, we will
keep QSOs short to work as many folks as possible. Follow our lead. If we
send a quick exchange, please follow suit.

If we pin down anything further or anything changes, we'll have a follow-up
email late tonight or tomorrow morning.
