Not sure how he is using Tommy's equipment as Tommy is going to Lord Howe in July.

VK4AN is heading his own team there.

Who he is staying with I don't know, but somehow he is planning on being on Rotuma for a month with some family he knows (who I don't know yet)

As you know I am happy to go either Rotuma or Conway or both.

But if you are still in Fiji, you might want to check up on this.

Not the best time for Rotuma in July, but still upsetting that they are planning this when a dx-pedition was already planned.

I just have conversation   with Tommy VK2IR and he give info to me, VK4AN going to use 
his equipments ( VK2IR), without permit. All this activity is only against our trip. Our trip is ready , right now. We will make final decision in September.

Hi Chris,

In our amateur world is much unfair person.
This person, VK4AN, sent to me incorrect offer and mails.
First solution for him is going  to Rotuma in November 2011 and
stay till Christmas time, but now hi like to jump and travel per advance.
Same situation was with T31F trip last year and team from Ukraine.
We have 2 possibility, Conway Reef, 3D2C  and Rotuma  3D2R. 
All is ready for every two location. Decision we will make later on.
Distance for Conwaay Reef  and Rotuma is same from Suva, about
270 nautical miles. Departure is September 25th and return in Suva 
October 8th.

Hi fellow group members… am going to Rotuma in JUNE-JULY for a month. Most equipment is already in Fiji. All permissions have been obtained. New callsign is pending otherwise will use 3D2A-R. Accommodation and catering organized with prominent Rotuman family. Electricity available 18-hrs/day and owner has 3.5KVA generator for other times. QTH is in an excellent position.  Leaving on the June sailing of the Bligh-Waters Shipping Co MV Westerland which will be around the second Monday in June, and return Fiji the 2nd Friday in July.  Weekly[Friday’s] air service is now available operated by a division of Air Pacific using a 20-seater (limited baggage).  Rig so far, is Flex-5000A, DX1b, 5-band Spiderbeam, DX-88 vertical, 160m Vee, 10m Spidermast & CDR rotator, 18m Spiderpole, 40a SMPSU, lots of coax, etc… Most items are already in Fiji.  Looking for good CW-SSB-RTTY operators to join the team for all or part of the operation. Cost will be your own airfares to Nadi and possibly a few days in Nadi-Lautoka prior to, and after return from, the ship sailing…or between flights…  I have arranged for 2 first-class cabins on the ship that can sleep 2. Trip each way is 2½ days by boat or 4-hours by air.  Each person will have their own room on Rotuma, and all meals will be provided. Cost on Rotuma per person per WEEK $500 (damn cheap for food and room!). Bring your own booze or we will have local beer available at cost. Special dieting needs will be catered for. There is no full-time doctor on the island, so you should be in reasonable health. No internet but the owner has a sat-phone connection to Fiji. Shared-cost will be a 200-litre drum of fuel for the owner as compensation for running his generator whenever there is no council power and some sea cargo costs for the Spiderbeam, Spidermast, Spiderpole, DX-88, fuel-drum, coil of rope, cartons of food and drink to be carried on the ship.  Complimentary 1-year membership in the PACIFIC DXERS is offered for those not yet a member…or a 1-year extension for current members… Life members get a free commemorative T-shirt and cap ($35 value) http://pacific-dxers.com .  It also might be a good opportunity to bring your spouse as far as Nadi…3D2DD can arrange for some tours, hire cars… and I can organize suitable accommodation if needed [depending on the star-rating and if beach location is wanted].
