Trata-se de prova clara e incontestável de que tanto o radioamadorismo NÃO
está morrendo, como ao contrário, está aumentando em numeros de adeptos
principalmente no que diz respeito à contestes e dx.
E, felizmente, nós estamos contribuindo para este crescimento, a notar o
número crescente de brasileiros nesse "esporte".
Independente de ciclos solares bons ou maus, BPLs, e pessimistas, o
radioamadorismo sobreviverá ... e isto não é utopia.

*CQ World Wide DX Contest Breaks 10,000 Log Barrier:*

(Hicksville, NY April 15, 2009) – For the first time, more than 10,000 logs
have been submitted for the CQ World Wide DX Contest, according to Contest
Director Bob Cox, K3EST. In addition, Cox reports that the number of CW logs
have exceeded the number of phone logs for the first time in more than 20
years.

According to Cox, there were a total of 5013 SSB logs and 5272 CW logs
submitted for the 2008 running of the event, for a total of 10,285 logs.
This is the first time that the CQWW – already the world’s most popular
amateur radio contest – has broken the 10,000 log mark. Of these, nearly 98%
were submitted electronically.

It is also the first time since 1986 that more CW logs have been submitted
than SSB logs. “This is a clear indication,” says Cox, “not only of the
health of contesting and of CW, but of ham radio as a whole.” In addition,
the logs contained the callsigns of more than 50,000 different amateur
stations making at least one contest contact, indicating that many more
stations participate in the CQWW Contest than submit logs.

SSB results of the 2008 CQWW Contest will be published in the August 2009
issue of CQ magazine; CW results will appear in the September issue.
