Hello friends,
We are having to PY5 region almost daily openings of Transequatorial
Propagation to Carib on 88 - 50 - 144 MHz.
Following some recent logs spread on fmtvbr list (DXCB) and VHF-DX Brasil.
Central and North American stations stay tune on calling frequencies
and FM/TV VHF Broadcasting band for any signal of South America.
Maybe similar improvement could be found on other TE circuits.
Next weekend we will have the AVHFC Spring Contest promoted by Araucaria
DX Group in 6 meters and 2 meters.
It will be good time for check the band. Stations located inside 44
South American grid squares already confirmed their participation.
Here the map:

MHZ with special call ZX2X.

Subject: AVHFC contest in PY and trans Atlantic DX opportunities this
weekend
The AVHFC contest will take place this weekend in Brazil. There will
be a lot more activity on 6m and 2m. See the attached email forwarded
from PY2ZX.
This weekend's Hepburn maps are also predicting reasonably good
enhancement for tropo ducting between ZS1 and PY. Stations form Cape
Town north along the ZS1 coast may have a good opportunity to work
stations further north along the PY coast on 2m.
Take a look at the map reference below to see where some of the
participating stations are located. Stations in Salvador and Recife
will have the best possibility to link into ZS1. Stations further
south along the PY coast may be able to work stations further north
along the African coast, possibly in Namibia.
The South Atlantic tropo season is beginning. Having stations on the
air actively looking for the openings will probably result in a QSO
this summer. I'd say the probability of a duct forming sometime in the
next 4 months is probably over 90%. If nobody is on, the opportunity
will be lost. A very important factor will be communications and
coordination between ZS and PY stations now so that they are ready and
in place foe the openings.
One suggestion is that anyone who has a moderately good station should
put it in "beacon" mode when they are not actually operating. So when
you go to bed, or of to work, put the rig and amplifier on a
prearranged beacon frequency, turn on the memory keyer, and let it
run. Be sure to comply with your local regulations, and be very sure
to have enough fan cooling to keep it all cool.
So, who will be the first pair of stations to work across the Atlantic
on 2m this summer?
Good DX to all.

Hi there,
maybe you can have a look as well towards CT3 - Madeira!
There will be CT3/DK2ZF, Rolf, with 4x 11el and gd power
waiting for some tropo contacts! He will have an optimum
QTH towards US (600m asl free take off!)...
Keep an eye at:

Have a good contest and lot of gd DX!

Hi Flavio:
Just a note of intrest I have a coastal beacon out of LI NewYork N2GHR\B
FN30lu on a frequency of 144.278 ..Its 30 watts to a 5 element yagi
elevation 300 feet its beamed on Miami The lobe covers the the Caribbean..
I had worked into Turks and Caicos Islands from FN30 years ago
and thought a coastal beacon into the Caribbean would be a super Idea
The Beacon has a 15 second ID then 30 Seconds of carrier 8 seconds off
then repeats has been in operation for over a year now ..
I hope this can be of some good use
