For versions starting at 8.10.0, you can chose either 001 or TT1 for
the first contact, or even OO1 (ie: oh oh 1) if you are so inclined.

Go into the Config menu, select "Configure Port, Telnet Adress,
Other" and then click on the Function keys Tab.

First check "Send Leading Zeroes in Serial Numbers" checkbox to
enable the function.

To select 001 as the format, un-check the "Send Cut Numbers" checkbox.

To select TT1 as the format, check the "Send Cut Numbers" checkbox
and then select the 'T1234567890 (leading T format)' option in
the "Cut Number Style" drop-down.

Note that there are also other selections in the Cut Number Style
dropdown that permit other combinations. Click on OK to save your
changes and you are ready to go.

You can also use the key-combo Ctrl+G to turn cut numbers on and off
from the keyboard, without having to bring up any other menus. This
is a toggle function and the new status is shown on the bottom left
of the entry window. For example, if you were set up to send TT1 and
someone asked for a repeat, you could type Ctrl+G (turning off Cut
Numbers) and your resent exchange would go out as 001. Typing Ctrl+G
again would turn the cut numbers back on and your exchange for the
next QSO would go out as TT2.
