To all members of this reflector:

It is with a very heavy heart that I must tell you Bob McCourt, KI4RU,
passed away Monday, Nov. 3, at 7:20 a.m.

Those of you who are "old timers" to this reflector will know of Bob and
what a great person he was. I have never known anyone to put so much time,
effort and money into helping Hams and SWL'ers from all over the world, get
the correct information resulting in successful requests for QSL
confirmations. I know he made financial investments for CPU programs and
spent hour after hour keeping his Data Base up to date and although some
people offered compensation, he never, ever accepted it. He often told me
that when someone said "Thanks to you, I finally managed to get the
confirmation I needed so badly". That was better than money. That was his
total reason for all his work.

In my opinion, Bob was not one of the best Data Base Managers in the Ham
community .... HE WAS THE BEST.

For many of us, Bob was someone you would be proud to call a close personal
friend. You could always count on him, he never let you down. And of all
of the possessions he cherished, none came close to the love he had for his
wife Carol. She has some very hard days ahead of her now and I know you all
wish her well.

I just thought you would want to know.

Bob, I will miss you very much, but will never forget you.

Don't it always seem to go that you don't know what you've got...till it's
gone.

from Big Yellow Taxi (Joni Mitchell) but also true about
QSL.NET<http://qsl.net/>if more users don't open their wallets and
help financially. Please
